Overview

Using the creative pursuit of millinery or hat design and the notion of 'equilibrium', students in this Discovery Course will design headpieces that address our complex relationship with varying manifestations of the term, 'equilibrium'.  Students will consider the meaning of this term and consider how important equilibrium, equality and equity are in our world. Students will access prompts relating to biodiversity, gender, race and ethnicity and philosophy among others. The work of professional milliners such as Philip Treacy will also be considered in order to gain inspiration for the design and creation of students' own pieces.
